- KCCA FC 0-2 Vipers SC
KCCA FC had a bad day on the pitch, falling to Vipers SC in the Uganda Cup final at Kadiba Stadium in Mengo.
In the game played on Saturday, May 31, Vipers SC started shaky, but KCCA FC failed to take advantage of two chances in the opening three minutes of the game.
All started going well for Vipers SC in the fifth minute of the game when Livingston Mulondo opened the score with his fourth goal of the competition from Allah Okello’s corner Kick.
The game commenced with both teams getting half chances, with KCCA FC getting more in numbers but but they were not sharp enough.
At half time, Vipers SC stayed in the lead of the game, forcing KCCA FC to substitute off Mustafa Mujuzi for Joel Sserunjogi.
A few minutes after the return of the second, Vipers SC survived from Ashiraf Mugume’s great effort which rattled the crossbar.
Defender Peter Magambo miscued his clearance and Yunus Ssentamu took advantage to make it 2-0 in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.
The moment was followed by a double substitution with Julius Poloto and Derrick Nsibambi replacing Joao Gabriel and Anyama.
The Kasasiro boys tried their way back into the game but Goalkeeper Dinnis Kiggundu stood up with two fantastic saves, denying Poloto on both occasions.
Nsibambi set up Mugume but the KCCA FC number 17 miskicked the ball as another chance went begging.
The next moment was substituting Mugume for Umar Lutalo who did not make any impact in the game but just watched Nicholas Wadada’s impressive performance.
Late in the game, Vipers SC only amended with two tactical changes, pulling off Okello, Ssentamu and Wadada to be replaced by Gusto Mulongo, Moses Waiswa and Grant Matsiko.
Vipers SC completed the game with a comfortable 2-0 win to claim the Uganda Cup, adding to the Uganda Premier League bagged last weekend to complete a second double in the last three seasons.
