The Lugogo Indoor Arena was electric on Saturday night as Week 6 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League season 4 delivered a thrilling mix of skill and raw emotion.

Topping the 27-fight card was a lightweight showdown between local Kibuli based favorite Kemis Ibrahim of Mutajjazi and East Coast’s Derrick Lubega, a main event that lived up to the hype.

Backed by roaring fans, Kemis showed poise and precision, earning a dominant 5–0 unanimous decision.

But it wasn’t smooth sailing. Lubega, tough and unshaken, soaked up heavy shots and only went down once in the opening round after a brutal punch. His toughness kept the fight competitive until the final bell.

Still, it was Kemis’ sharp movement, composure, and ring IQ that stole the show and deepened his growing fan base.

Beyond the headliner, the night featured fireworks across the junior, youth, and elite divisions.

In the Flyweight (51kg) Elite bout, COBAP’s Moses Kimera overwhelmed UPDF’s Umar Golola, forcing a fifth-round stoppage after a barrage of unanswered punches. Golola had no reply to Kimera’s relentless pace.

Featherweight (57kg) saw East Coast’s Kassim Murungi continue his unbeaten streak with a one-sided win over Reagan Musoke. Musoke’s strange approach often slapping instead of throwing proper punches frustrated both fans and judges.

In Light Heavyweight (80kg), Lukanga’s Richard Kasujja outclassed Zebra BC’s Kilwana Sadat in a clean 5–0 win. KCCA’s Samuel Ochen followed suit, dismantling Namungoona’s Hussein Mulo and capping it off with a cheeky Diogo Jota-style celebration in respect of the Liverpool Football Club fallen star.

In Middleweight (75kg), Brawn BC’s Alfred Ojok looked sharp and focused as he cruised past UPDF’s Harold Mukuye with a dominant 5–0 win. Ojok now leads the division and looks destined for the finals.

The most entertaining fight of the night came from the Heavyweight (92kg) division, where Kololo’s charismatic Aziz Ringo lit up the arena with his showmanship and power backed by his Arua Park WestNile fanbase that set the entrance corner on fire with an urge to make their voices heard. He danced his way to a 5–0 win over Lukanga’s James Baraka.

In the women’s Flyweight bout, UPDF’s Abwoli Mwajuma got sweet revenge over Katrini’s Dezu Jilidat, who had beaten her in the National Open. Mwajuma’s 5–0 win was measured, emotional and decisive.

The junior bouts added their own drama. Apio Marion (Alebtong) impressed with a 5–0 victory over Nandunga Prima in the Pin 46kg class, while Katabi’s Nagawa Vanessa stopped Lukanga’s Mirembe Precious in the second round of their Junior 63kg contest.

Other notable results include;

  • Ddumba Steven (Lukanga) edged Ryan Nsubuga (Kabaga) 4–1 in Junior Light Welterweight (63kg).
  • Masembe Julius (Lukanga) beat Seruwagi Shafik (Godfather BC) 5–2 in Junior 60kg.
  • Nasasira Shafic (Police BC) dominated Assimwe Prince (Kalema BC) 5–0 in Elite 60kg.
  • Serujja Paul (Musta BC) squeaked past Bwambale Sadik (Zebra BC) with a 4–3 decision in Junior 66kg.
  • Lubega Ashiraf (Namungoona BC) defeated Sekandi Muhammad (Lukanga BC) 4–1 in Junior 57kgs

The competition will resume on Saturday 26th July 2025 while rivalries continue to intensify in the quest for a place in the final on 26th December 2025 with a belt on the line.
