In a highly anticipated main event that headlined Week 2 of the Boxing Champions League, Kemis Ibrahim of Mutajjazi BC narrowly edged past Cobap’s Mugisha Patrick in a razor-thin 4–3 decision following a bout review on Saturday night at Club Obligato.

The Lightweight (60kg) Elite contest was anything but straightforward, with the crowd split in their opinions and tension hanging thick in the air until the final verdict.

Both fighters entered the ring with high expectations. Kemis, known for his fast hands and the catchphrase “Kibuli Tuyina Ebibuli”, was under pressure to deliver fireworks.

Yet, as the bell rang, it became evident that this bout would not be the one-sided spectacle many had anticipated.

Mugisha, fighting out of Cobap, brought grit and resilience to the ring, making it difficult for Kemis to establish rhythm or dominance.

The back-and-forth exchanges had fans on the edge of their seats, with several rounds too close to call.

It wasn’t until a post-bout review that Kemis was declared the marginal winner, sparking cheers, gasps and murmurs in equal measure across the venue.

“People will talk, but what matters is what’s on paper,” said Kemis afterwards. “He came with a bold head, not to box but to headbutt me. But I’m not surprised,” he added, alleging rough tactics from Mugisha during the intense clash.

Despite the controversy, the decision stands, and Kemis walks away with the victory and the headlines.
