Kenya will no longer host the 2026 CAVB Zone V Club Championship after failing to meet the requirements to stage the tournament on schedule.
The men’s and women’s event, initially set for February 8–16, has been postponed, with the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Zone V confirming that Kenya is unable to host.
In a circular dated January 19, 2026, Zone V President Sadik Z. Nasiwu informed member federations that the decision followed the Kenya Volleyball Federation’s inability to organize the championship as planned.
“We regret to inform you that the championship set for 8th to 16th February in Kenya has been pushed following Kenya Volleyball Federation’s inability to host as scheduled,” the statement said.
The decision is a setback for Kenya, which had been preparing to welcome the region’s top clubs.
However, Zone V clarified that the tournament has not been cancelled. A new host country and venue will be announced in due course.
CAVB Zone V also assured stakeholders that other activities on the 2026 calendar will go on as planned, and apologized to teams, officials and partners for the inconvenience.
The Zone V Club Championship is one of the region’s premier volleyball competitions and a key route to continental and global events under CAVB and FIVB.
With Kenya out, focus now shifts to which country will step in to host the tournament as clubs await further guidance.
