Kitende, Uganda – In a nail-biting encounter, Uganda Martyrs secured a last-gasp equalizer to salvage a point against Wakiso Hill in a Women’s Super League clash played on Wednesday.

The game initially lacked clear-cut chances, with the most noteworthy moment being a close call for Wakiso Hill when goalkeeper Nulu Babirye sensationally stopped Teddy Namata‘s wayward header from finding its own net.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 76th minute by Zaitun Namaganda, who capitalized on a miscommunication between Uganda Martyrs’ defenders and goalkeeper Sharon Kaidu to slot the ball home.

However, controversy arose as some argued the ball hadn’t crossed the line entirely.

Dramatic Finish Secures Point for Uganda Martyrs

Uganda Martyrs refused to surrender, and their persistence paid off in the dying moments of the game. A pinpoint cross from Nyakato caused havoc in the Wakiso Hill defense, with Faridah Namirimu failing to clear the ball.

Goalkeeper Babirye then fumbled under pressure, allowing midfielder Kevin Nakacwa to tap in the equalizer in stoppage time.

The draw leaves Wakiso Hill precariously placed in the relegation zone, though they are now tied on points (12) with She Makerere.

Uganda Martyrs remain in fourth position but share points (19) with third placed She Maroons, who lost their earlier match to Rines S.S WFC.

Uganda Martyrs will face a stern test next as they host defending champions Kampala Queens on Saturday. Wakiso Hill, meanwhile, will travel to face She Makerere on Sunday.
