Kibuli SS has won the third edition of the FUFA TV Cup, becoming the third school to lift the trophy. They join previous winners, Nabumali High School and St. Mary’s College Kisubi.
In a thrilling final match held on Tuesday, September 9, at St. Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu, Northern Uganda, Kibuli SS defeated Jinja SS with a score of 2-1. The winning goals were scored by Kibuli SS winger David Wacha, who netted both. John Brian Owino scored the single goal for Jinja SS.
This victory marks a significant achievement for Kibuli SS, who were eliminated in the preliminary rounds in the previous season. Their path to the championship included a crucial win over the host school and bronze medal winner, St. Joseph’s College Layibi. Jinja SS, who secured the silver medal, reached the final by eliminating last season’s champion, Nabumali High School.
The FUFA TV Cup continues to be a highlight of the school sports calendar, showcasing top football talent from across the country. Last year’s tournament, held at the Njeru Technical Center, saw Nabumali High School win the title, with Jinja SS taking home the bronze. St. Mary’s College Kisubi won the inaugural competition.
