Kibuli Secondary School and Mbogo High School won the Plascon National Schools Badminton Championship 2025 in the Boys and Girls categories, respectively.
The championship held in Lugogo Indoor Stadium started on 13th June and climaxed on 15th June 2025 with 360 students from over 20 schools taking part.
In the boys’ final, Kibuli Secondary School defeated Kinaawa High School – Kawempe, 2-0, to become champions.
In the run to success, Kibuli overcame St Michael International and Seroma Christian High School in the Quarterfinals and semifinals.
Kibuli Secondary School’s journey was fueled by much inspiration from Akbar Nooh Oduka and Arafat Tendo Kibirige, who stopped Najji Mbowa and Bruno Agaba with straight sets of 21-12, 21-7 and 21-14, 21-14 to win the event before the doubles contest.
For Kinaawa High School to reach the final, they eliminated Progressive Secondary School Kitintale and Kakungulu Memorial at the Quarterfinals and Semifinals.
In the Girls category, Mbogo High School won the championship by beating Rubaga Girls 2-0 in a game which maintained the norms of the fixtures, with Mbogo High School continuing to keep the dominance over Rubaga Girls.
On the route, winner Mbogo High School dominantly beat Trinity College Nabbingo and Kakungulu Memorial.
To win, Mbogo High School operated with Vivian Nalule and Ramiah Bukenya who overpowered Olivia Betty Kyomukama and Ketty Ndagire in singles 21-15, 21-17 and 21-16, 21-15.
On the other side, Rubaga Girls eliminated returnees St Janan Lawumu and Seroma Christian High School to reach the final.
In individual categories, Kibuli Secondary School was also the brightest with their students winning eight medals, four golds and four silvers.
Students from Mbogo High School managed four medals, while Rubaga Girls and Ebenezer Junior students won three medals.
Umaimah Nabasirye of Nihad Baby School was a star of the championship, winning two singles trophies, bagging the U10 and U13 girls.
