Kigozi, Luboyera, Opuuli guide Kampala City to Beach Soccer Super Four retain

Kampala City defeated MUBS 4-2 in the final to win a back-to-back Super Four title, with Ambrose Kigozi, Hassan Luboyera and Sharif Opuuli scoring the goals.

Worrick Mbabazi and Deo Ssenyonga scored for MUBS, the inaugural winners of the FUFA Beach Soccer Super League defending champions.

As they join St. Lawrence, becoming the second team to defend the Super Four tournament, they level with St. Lawrence in being the two most successful teams of the trophy.

Following the Season Light Up tournament for the best four teams, all league teams are now focused on kicking off the 2025-2026 season.

Hassan Luboyera, Sharif Opuuli, and Ambrose Kigozi (2) scored the goals for them as they came from behind to win their second crown.

Worrick Mbabazi had given MUBS the lead at the beginning of the first period. Deo Ssenyonga struck the second goal for the Nakawa-based team late in the third period.

To win this year’s Super Four, Kampala City reached the final by a walkover following Mutoola Beach Soccer Club’s failure to show up at Bunjako Beach in Buwama on Sunday, September When the tournament took place.

For the finalists, MUBs, they started by eliminating two-time champions and the then titleholder, St. Lawrence, beating them 2-1 in a game played during Sunday noon.

Stuart Magumba and Malik Bingaya scored the goals, while experienced player Jonathan Kikonyogo pulled up St. Lawrence’s goal, though it wasn’t enough to guide them to a third straight trophy in the fifth edition of the tournament.
