His majesty the king of Tooro, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV got a feel of rally car for the first time at the 2024 UMC Fort Portal Tourism City Rally.
The King accepted to be driven by three-time National rally Champion Ronald Ssebuguzi in Ford Fiesta Proto, who later got the racing adrenaline and asked organisers to let him drive himself in test of his driving skills.
The king’s request was obviously granted and was given Ssebuguzi’s co-driver, Anthony Mugambwa to navigate him through the super sepecial stage.
“Am super excited having been given the chance to co-drive the king, and seems he likes speed,” said Mugambwa after their run.
By end of a delayed leg 1 on Saturday, Joshua Muwanguzi co-driven by Hamza Lwanga in Subaru Impreza N12 had taken command of the rally with the fastest time of 48 minutes 48.2 seconds. The crew has to build on its rally lead of one minute 36.5 seconds to see themselves to p1 finish.
However, hard chasing shell-sponsored crew of Ronald Ssebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa are optimistic and ready to fight to close down the gap in the in four stage loop.
