Kirabo Namutebi yet again re-wrote her 50 meters freestyle national swimming record with a staggering 26.12 seconds at the ongoing International School Sport Federation Games in Normandy, France.
It has been a massive improvement from arguably the most decorated Ugandan swimmer who has been on the rise since making 27.04 at Golden Orlando meet in Croatia.
The upward trajectory continued last year at the Olympics Games in Tokyo as she went on to break her own record with a 26.63 to set a new national record in the 50m freestyle race.
Before yesterday’s achievement, Namutebi was chasing a 26.42 national record set by her in September last year in Kazan, Russia.
Only 17 years old and at a pace of 26.12 Namutebi’s ultimate target is 23.67, the world record set by Sweden’s Sarah Sjostromback in 2017.
