Friday evening saw the end of Lubaga Grameen’s undefeated run as they fell 6-2 to Kisenyi Futsal Club at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
Abdihamid Dahir Ahmed stole the show with a remarkable hat-trick, while Ismael Warsame added a brace to Kisenyi’s tally. Abdulkarim Abdullahi also got his name on the scoresheet, ensuring a decisive victory.
Lubaga Grameen’s Michael Lubowa and Bruno Ssegirinya managed to score consolation goals, but it wasn’t enough to prevent their first defeat of the season.
This win propels Kisenyi to the top of the league with nine points from three games, tied with Park and Luzira who also secured victories on Thursday.
Notably, this marks the first defeat for the defending champions, Lubaga Grameen. Despite a strong first-half performance, they lost control in the second half, conceding four goals without reply against a tactically adept Kisenyi team.
Elsewhere, Nansana ASKA bagged their second win with a 3-2 victory over Aidenal, while Kabowa Dream Team earned their first win of the season by defeating Kawempe FC 3-1.
Under coach Pius Serugo a reknown sports journalist, Kawempe FC remains one of two teams without points and struggles offensively, scoring only four goals while conceding 19 in just three matches. Aidenal FC also remains pointless.
Ismael Warsame of Kisenyi and Michael Lubowa of Lubaga Grameen lead the scoring charts with six goals each. The league action resumes on Thursday, December 14th, with Matchday four concluding on Friday.
