Kisenyi FC beat up odds to register a 5-1 win against Mengo City to reach the final of the Futsal Super League Frenzy Edition.
Justus Ssempijja and Muhammad AbdulKadri Sanchez scored twice each with Bashir Waleed also getting on the score sheet for Kisenyi FC while Ian Tugume scored the only goal for Mengo City.
In the game, Sanchez, who got involved in all Kisenyi FC goals, opened the scoring midway through the first half but Tugume equalised within three minutes.
Waleed triggered Kisenyi’s second goal to regain the lead in the 24th minute, Ssempijja extended the lead to 3-1, and Sanchez lobbed in the fourth goal before setting up the fifth to Ssempijja.
Mengo City, who entered the game in chessing for four trophies, have now only remained in the chase for the Futsal Super League, Uganda Cup and Super Cup.
In the other semifinal, Crown Lubiri eliminated QC Mbarara 5-3 on penalties that followed a one-all draw after 40 minutes of normal play.
In normal play, Crown Lubiri led the game through Muhammad Sharif goal that came in the second half with nine minutes remaining but Franklin Tamale equalized to send the game into shootouts.
Starting the Shootouts, there were four successful straight penalties taken for either side until Bruno of QC Mbarara lost concentration and sent his efforts off target, handing a chance to AbdulKadri AbdulShakur to kill the game for Crown Lubiri.
Both Kisenyi FC and Crown Lubiri will face off in the all-Somali final on 23rd May 2025 at Old Kampala Futsal Arena.
