- KIU Rangers 64-57 UCU Lady Canons
In a stunning turn of events, the underdog KIU Rangers upset the UCU Lady Canons 64–57 on Friday night at the YMCA Court, snapping out of a rough patch in style.
Down 22–11 after the first quarter, KIU regrouped and dominated the middle quarters before sealing the win with a strong fourth-quarter finish and icing on the cake by Ines Kanyamuneza.
Sharon Kirabo led the charge with a game-high 24 points, while Racheal Nanyonga added 12 to help secure one of the Rangers’ biggest wins of the season.
UCU, known for their inconsistency, struggled to hold their early lead. Matrina Anyango delivered 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sylvia Nantongo recorded a monster 22-rebound, 12-point double-double. Sylvia Nakituuka chipped in with 14 points.
The win lifts KIU to fifth place, bolstering their playoff hopes and widening the gap over sixth-placed Magic Stormers.
Meanwhile, the loss, UCU’s fourth of the season keeps them in fourth, but now just one spot above a resurgent KIU.
