The 15th NACOBA Sports Gala brought together Namilyango College Old Boys from various generations for a thrilling day of competition, camaraderie, and celebration at MUBS Grounds.

The event featured 22 cohorts battling across 10 sports disciplines, including football, rugby, basketball, volleyball, chess, and athletics.

At the end of the action-packed day, the Knights (2016-2022 Cohort) emerged as the overall champions, followed by the Hornets (Class of 2011) in second place and the Lycans (Class of 2017) in third.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Justice Thomas Ocaya, who commended the spirit of unity that defines the NACOBA community.

He emphasized the importance of such gatherings in strengthening lifelong friendships and preserving the Namilyango College legacy.

Beyond the competition, the event, held on Women’s Day, honoured women in the Old Boys’ lives.

The special ladies’ 100m x 4 relay race saw alumni from Gayaza High School, Trinity College Nabbingo, Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga, and Maryhill High School participate with Gayaza Old Girls Association taking the win.

NACOBA President Alex Asiimwe Matayo underscored the association’s continuous growth, with initiatives such as NACOBA SACCO, NACOBA Consultants Ltd, and the Namilyango College Peregrine Kibuuka Endowment Fund supporting students, staff, and infrastructure.

The event was made possible through sponsorship from a couple of companies including the Uganda Table Tennis Association whose President Robert Jjagwe is an Old boy of the College.

With sports, networking, and community spirit at its core, the NACOBA Sports Gala continues to strengthen the Namilyango College alumni network, celebrating a rich history that dates back to 1902.
