Kyadondo SS Celebrate First UMEA Solidarity Games Major Trophy

Following multiple failed attempts, Kyadondo Secondary School had been building and becoming a force in Secondary Schools’ football, and finally, the team clicked at the 2026 UMEA Solidarity Games.

A day after the triumph that bagged their first major trophy when they beat UMEA Solidarity Games boys’ football giant Masaka SS 1-0 in the final played at Nkoma SS in Mbale on Monday, April 6.

The trophy celebration took place at the school’s campus in Matugga Kiryagonja on April 8. During the celebration, School Headteacher Hajji Waliggo Ismael said, “All praise to God who enabled us to this victory. After God, we thank our technical team and our students for standing brave and possessing beautiful performances. We passed through the Giants.”

To get to the trophy, the team eliminated Kawempe Muslims at the round of 16 and Kibuli SS at the Quarterfinal, both among the most successful teams. In the Semifinal, they passed Buziga Islamic to beat the most successful team, Masaka SS, who were looking for a third straight trophy.

Kyadondo SS had been losing multiple times at different stages of knockouts in different competitions, including UMEA Solidarity Games, Buganda Schools, USSSA Wakiso Zone, and USSSA National in the past three years.

With this trophy, Kyadondo SS, who have always been performing fiercely, have opened a new chapter by crossing the bridge heading to join the possible winners for many major trophies with their continuing project under Coach Hakim Ssenkumba.

Kyadondo SS has won minor trophies in Schools football, being the USSSA U16 National Champions 2025, and before the UMEA Solidarity Boys Football trophy, they won a fifth straight USSSA Matuga schools football district trophy, and now they are switching focus to the USSSA Wakiso Zone.
