Kyaggwe has made history by becoming the first team to book a spot in the quarterfinal stage of the 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup. A narrow 1-0 victory against Mawogola, courtesy of a goal from striker Marvin Busuulwa, was enough to secure their qualification with two matches remaining in the group stage.

The win puts Kyaggwe at an impressive 18 points, establishing a six-point lead over second-placed Kooki in the Muganzirwazza group.

Key Results and Quarterfinal Race

The rest of the Buganda Masaza Cup weekend saw several key matches that will impact the final standings.

  • Butambala held two-time champions Ssingo to a draw. The result keeps Ssingo out of the direct qualification spots, trailing Kooki by just one point.
  • In the Masengere group, Bugerere edged out Buweekula with a 2-1 win. Goals from Henry Wamala and Mike Katumwa were crucial for Bugerere.
  • Kyadondo finally broke their winless streak, routing Buvuma 5-0. Abasi Muluya and Enock Ssekatawa each scored twice.
  • Mawokota also found a much-needed win, beating Bulemeezi 1-0 with a stoppage-time goal from Mike Kasule.
  • In the Bulange group, Busiro continued their dominance over defending champions Buddu with a 1-0 win, thanks to Bruhan Tusaba.
  • A goalless draw between Buluuli and Busujju puts both teams on the brink of qualification with 15 points each.

Standings and Quarterfinal Predictions

With Kyaggwe’s qualification confirmed, the race is on for the remaining spots. Buweekula, Buluuli, Busujju, Bugerere, Kooki, and Mawokota are all in strong positions to advance.

Meanwhile, the hopes of teams like defending champions Buddu, Ssingo, and Bulemeezi hang in the balance, as they still have a chance to qualify but face an uphill battle. Buvuma, Gomba, Butambala, and Mawogola have been mathematically eliminated from the competition.
