Avengers are defending Champions, having claimed the second-ever women’s Uganda Cup title courtesy of a last-minute penalty to win 18-16 against the then-defending champions, Thunderbirds, after a nervy game in Entebbe.
The Avengers have made the trip to Gulu, to start their title defense. The Panthers are at home, at Legends, to the stubborn and reigning Premiership champions, Black Pearls.
Last year’s runners-up, Thunderbirds, are at home in Kyadondo, hosting Makerere side, Ewes.
There’s a ferocious beating on the cards as Namulala’s Nile Rapids hosts the Kabale Berg Princesses.
In the men’s games, Makerere based Impis host the Jinja Hippos, with the latter hoping to salvage a better result to last weekend’s nail-biting draw at Legends at the hands of Rhinos.
The Walukuba Barbabrians, off a close loss to the Platinum Credit Heathens, will be hosting the Life Guard Rams with hope for redemption and keep their playoff chances alive.
Elsewhere, there’s a Northern derby brewing with Gulu City Falcons playing the Lira Bulls, Kitgum Lions are hosting Kampani’s Eagles, Mongers head East to face Njeru Hurricanes, Buffaloes are in the Wolves’ den, while Warriors take the battle to the Titans.
