Uganda Christian University’s Lady Canons kept their title hopes alive, with all eyes set on Playoffs putting up a hard-fought 71–62 win over the league-leading JT Lady Jaguars on Friday night at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

In a tense clash between two top contenders, UCU came out sharp. Sylvia Nantongo’s turnaround jumper closed the first quarter with a five-point edge.

The Jaguars stayed in the fight, but Aziida Nabayunga’s three-pointer at the halftime buzzer still left them trailing 36–31.

After the break, the Lady Canons took control. They dictated the tempo, dominated the boards, and made key shots down the stretch.

Matrina Anyango led the charge with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Shillah Lamunu chipped in 11 points and pulled down a game-high 16 boards.

Their effort on the glass gave UCU second chances and slowed the Jaguars’ rhythm.

Mercy Batamuliza led the Jaguars with 13 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to stop a hungry UCU side.

The win moves the Lady Canons to second place with 29 points from 18 games, closing in on the Jaguars, who now have four losses.
