The FUFA Women’s Super League saw a major shakeup today with Matchday 11’s rescheduled games as the league’s dominant force, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, suffered their first defeat of the season.

In a thrilling encounter played in Masindi, Lady Doves stunned the previously unbeaten table toppers 3-2. Resty Kobusobozi‘s brace and a crucial strike by Sumaya Nsisi secured all three points for the home side, despite a valiant effort from Kawempe’s Allen Nassazi who netted twice.

This loss marks Kawempe’s first league defeat since November 2022, but they retain their top spot with 28 points, three ahead of second-placed Kampala Queens (with a game in hand).

Lady Doves, meanwhile, climb to sixth with 15 points, distancing themselves from the relegation zone.

Both sides turn their attention to upcoming fixtures – Kawempe hosting Rines SS WFC and Lady Doves welcoming UCU Lady Cardinals, both on Sunday, April 14th.

Rines SS WFC complete double over She Maroons with comeback victory

Elsewhere in Luzira, Rines SS WFC secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over She Maroons, achieving a league double over their opponents.

Despite conceding a late first-half goal to Suzan Nambutye, Rines fought back with a dominant second-half display. Defender Adrine Birungi and forward Aminah Nababi found the net to seal the comeback win.

This result propels Rines to fifth place with 16 points, while She Maroons remain third with 19 points, same as fourth placed Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC.

In the next game, She Maroons will be welcoming bottom side Asubo Ladies FC on Saturday 13th April 2024 in Luzira while Rines will visit Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC on the following day.
