Uganda’s Lady Rugby Cranes 7s have named their final 12-player squad for the Rugby Africa Women’s 7s Championship, set for November 15–16 at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya.

Head coach Charles Onen trimmed the squad from an initial 18 players to a balanced side of five forwards and seven backs, retaining most of the core group that featured at the Safari 7s in October.

Former captain Peace Lekuru headlines the team’s returnees after her spell with England’s York Valkyrie, while Samiya Ayikoru makes a comeback to the 7s setup since her last appearance in the Rugby Africa Women’s 15s.

Top scorer Comfort Angayika misses out, replaced by Unity Namulala, as Tina Akello also sits out due to injury. Onen attributed the final choices to a mix of form, injuries, and player availability.

Uganda has been drawn in Group C alongside Zambia and Burkina Faso, with both pool games scheduled for Day One before the knockout rounds on Day Two.

Final Squad

Forwards: Lydia Namabiro, Yvonne Najjuma, Fazira Namukwaya, Agnes Nakuya, Grace Nabaggala, Suzan Adong

Backs: Sandra Lona Amoli, Juliet Nandawula, Peace Lekuru, Janat Nandudu, Samiya Ayikoru, Unity Namulala
