The Lady Rugby Cranes kicked off their Rugby Africa Women’s 7s campaign in style on Saturday, dominating Burkina Faso 50–0 in a dominant opener full of pace, accuracy and standout performances.

Lydia Namabiro set the tone with a blistering solo run for the first try, and she wasn’t done.

The forward, who has grown comfortable on the wing, completed a first half hat trick as Uganda raced to a 40–0 lead.

Everything clicked, crisp attacks, solid defence, and complete control.

Uganda started the second half nervously, with excitement and lapses in discipline slowing their momentum. But former captain Peace Lekuru steadied things.

After Lona Amoli sliced through the defence, sharp communication put Lekuru in perfect position to touch down Uganda’s first try of the half.

Janat Nandudu, nearly flawless earlier on, missed the conversion but still finished with five successful kicks and a try.

Namabiro wasn’t done either, she bulldozed through tacklers to seal her fourth try of the match.

Replacement kicker Samiya Ayikoru came close to adding extras, but her effort bounced off the crossbar.

When the whistle blew, Uganda had delivered a commanding 50–0 statement win.

They now shift their focus to their final Pool match against Zambia, a chance to build even more momentum in their push for continental glory.
