Corporate sport and workplace wellness have received a major boost with the launch of the Legacy Corporate Games.
The national initiative was unveiled on Tuesday morning at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, bringing together corporate leaders and partners to introduce a structured sporting platform aimed at uniting organizations through competition, wellness and networking.
The Sheraton was confirmed as the official hospitality partner and will host key activities, including the end of year awards dinner.
Managing Director Jean-Philippe Bittencourt welcomed the partnership, saying the hotel is proud to support a platform that promotes professionalism and corporate engagement.
“We are proud to support the Legacy Corporate Games and to host its events here in Kampala. The initiative aligns with our values, and we are committed to contributing to its success by providing a professional environment for corporate engagement and competition,” he said.
He noted that the hotel had supported similar corporate games in the early 2010s and was pleased to see the concept return with renewed structure.
TMR International Hospital was unveiled as the official medical partner. The hospital will provide a dedicated medical team, ambulance services and first aid support at all events to ensure participant safety and reinforce the message of workplace wellness.
As part of the partnership, Dr Mitchel Daniels, Chief Executive Officer of TMR International Hospital, was named Patron of the Games, underscoring the hospital’s commitment to preventive healthcare.
Speaking on his behalf, Steven Beyanga said the initiative presents an opportunity to promote healthier lifestyles in corporate Uganda.
“At TMR International Hospital, we are committed to supporting initiatives that promote wellness and preventive healthcare. The Legacy Corporate Games encourage physical activity and a culture of health within the corporate environment,” he said.
Chairman Thomas Bamuuteze described the Games as more than sport, calling them a strategic investment in people and performance.
“The Legacy Corporate Games are about redefining how organizations in Uganda think about people, performance and wellbeing.”
“We are building a national platform that brings institutions together through sport, strengthens workplace culture and promotes healthier, more productive workforces,” he said.
The Games will bring together companies from finance, telecommunications, manufacturing, hospitality, technology and public service.
Participating organizations will compete in different sports while engaging in structured networking activities.
Registration for the inaugural season is open at UGX 5 million per organization, with an optional corporate networking dinner available at UGX 1 million.
