LingLong Tube Industry has pledged to increase its sponsorship for the annual City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge. This announcement was made by the company’s President, Wang Feng, during the launch of the 8th edition of the tournament. The launch event took place on September 18 at the Mandela Group of Company head offices in Kampala’s Industrial Area.
In a translated speech, President Wang Feng expressed his pleasure in supporting Uganda Badminton, highlighting the company’s commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting discipline through sports.
“This initiative is not only on sportsmanship but it also promotes discipline in communities. As a company, we pledge to keep improving our offers towards the event to assure that it keeps growing bigger,” he stated.
Badminton Uganda CEO, Simon Mugabi, praised the strong partnership “Because of the extreme support from Mandela Group of Companies, Uganda is number one in Africa. This Challenge is among the major roles that are raising the growth of Badminton in Uganda,” Mugabi said.


The City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge 2025 is set to be a significant event, with over 1500 participants expected from seven countries: Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo, Tanzania, and South Sudan. The tournament is scheduled for October 16-19, 2025, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Kampala. While last year’s prize money was around UGX 8 million, this year’s figure is expected to rise with the increased sponsorship.
Top Ugandan players, including Muzafaru Lubega, Gladys Mbabazi, Kenneth Mwambu, and Tracy Naluwooza, attended the launch.
Speaking to the media, Muzafaru Lubega, who won the men’s doubles last year, expressed his ambition to win the singles title this year, noting his preparation in other upcoming tournaments.
The event will feature both individual and team events across various categories, including for schools, universities, veterans, and professionals.
