Lugazi FC has confirmed the signing of defender Dauson Mafumu from Express FC on a two-year deal, their first signing of the current transfer window.
The 22-year-old brings valuable versatility to the squad, having played at left back, center back, and in central midfield. Mafumu spent three seasons at Express, where he rose to the role of vice captain.
“I’m excited to join Lugazi FC,” Mafumu said after putting pen to paper. “This feels like the right place to continue my growth. The club has a clear vision, and I want to be part of it.”
Known for his balanced game, Mafumu prides himself on contributing both defensively and offensively.
“I’m confident going forward and strong in defense. I like to deliver accurate crosses, make clean interceptions, and help the team transition quickly,” he added.
Mafumu’s football journey began at age three with Makindye Soccer Academy, where he spent 13 years.
He joined the Express Junior Team in 2018 and scored nine goals in two FUFA Juniors League seasons, a notable achievement for a defender.
He was promoted to the Express senior side in 2020 and quickly became known for his leadership and adaptability. In 2022, he also played a key role in Kibuli SS’s FEASSSA Games victory in Arusha.
Mafumu’s addition is expected to strengthen Lugazi FC’s squad ahead of the upcoming Uganda Premier League season.
