The National Men’s T20 League returned on Sunday with two double headers following a three-week break.

The return saw defending champions Aziz Damani record two wins against Africa Cricket Club at the Green Oval in Entebbe as they ascended to the top of Group A.

Damani beat ACC by 7 runs in the morning game that saw Riazat Ali Shah (Rizu) named the Player of the Match.

Rizu, as he is well known by his mates scored 33 runs, the most by a Damani player to win that award.

Simon Ssesazi had 29 while Juma Miyaji (13) completed the double-digit hitters for the defending champions, but it is ACC’s Ronald Lutaaya who scored the most runs in that game- 45.

Fred Achelam and Ronald Puwata had 15 and 14 respectively for their side. And on the bowling side, Damani’s Marvin Kitamirike picked four wickets- the most by any player.

The afternoon game was not as close as the morning one as Aziz Damani won it by 4 wickets.

Kitamirike displayed a similar performance on his way to winning the Player of the Match award with four wickets to his name.

Here, Miyaji got the most runs for his team (45), while Riazat followed with 32. Ssesazi managed just 5 before being caught by Achelam from Ismail Munir’s bowling.

Munir had two wickets including his leg before the wicket dismissal of hitter Raza Iqbal.

Soroti City Cricket Club

Elsewhere, Soroti City Cricket Club defeated KC Budo Cricket Club both in the morning and the afternoon game.

Soroti picked two wins (2 wickets and 3 wickets) in the morning and in the afternoon respectively at the Jinja SS Oval.

In the afternoon, Soroti won the toss and elected to bowl. Budo managed to put 114 runs on the board a score Soroti chased successfully.
