Lyantonde FC, a football club from the small town of Lyantonde in Uganda, unveiled its 2023/24 squad on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

The club, which was founded in 1997 but lost its identity to URA FC in the top flight, is now back with big ambitions.

Known as “Small Town, Big Dreams,” Lyantonde FC will make its debut in the 2023/24 Buganda Regional Season.

The club’s chairman, Umaru Nyanzi, explained the club’s ambitions at the unveiling ceremony.

“It has been my passion to see my town of Lyantonde have a football club that will even compete in the Uganda Premier League in the near future,” Nyanzi said.

“Our aim is to develop and promote players, and we also want to see a community club rising high. We are going to refund the team. And I also call upon football lovers and fans of Lyantonde to extend a helping hand to support the team.”

“We have a young team that has an average age of 19 years old, and we’re going to provide them with the best services to showcase the best display of football that will be the first in the country,” he added.

“Our target is to see the team’s brand growing, develop players, and play in the top flight.”

Hakim Nsibambi is the head coach of the team, and he will be assisted by Godfrey Katerega and Alex Mubiru as the assistant and first assistant coaches respectively.
