As the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association games qualifiers commence, Wakiso Zone is climaxing their qualification championship.
Madina Islamic Nsangi-Katereke and Kyadondo SS Matugga-Kiryagonja will be in the center for a major cause as they fight for the fifth slot of Wakiso Zone.
Meeting in the classification match on Tuesday 15th April, Madina Islamic is seeking for first appearance in the nationals while Kyadondo will be looking for a return, having played their first time last year in the Masaka edition.
With Buddo SS and St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende set to rematch the dominant tie in the Wakiso district final, the two have already secured slots to play at the USSSA Boys football national championship in Bukedea.
To reach the final, Kitende eliminated Standard High Zana in the semifinal while Buddo stopped Kyadondo SS in the other semifinal.
Throughout the district championship, Kitende have faced fewer challenges compared to Buddo SS, resulting in Kitende becoming the highest-scoring team in the championship.
Having scored 8 goals against God’s Way Matugga and 6 goals passed Kakungulu High School, Bombo in the quarterfinal.
For Buddo SS at the Group Stage, they performed at the same level as Kitende after collecting 12 points from four games despite scoring fewer.
At the knockout stage, it is where Buddo SS matched the hardest by just escaping from London College Nansana after playing a 1-1 draw to win the tie on penalty by 3-1 in the round of 16.
At the Semifinal, Buddo SS, which beat Greenlight Islamic School Nansana by 1-0, passed the hardest hurdle after overcoming ruthless Kyadondo SS in the quarterfinals.
Going into the final, Kitende is the defending Champion, having humbled Buddo in last season’s final. They were ending Buddo SS’s five-year dominance against them in the final.
