Matchday 2 of the 2025 Uganda Handball Super League delivered high drama, thrilling finishes and milestone moments, none bigger than Makerere Handball Club’s first-ever league win, a nail-biting 35-34 triumph over Evergreen.

Played on a lively Saturday at Old Kampala Arena, the game saw Makerere rise from a struggling debut performance to a determined and disciplined unit.

In a match that swung back and forth like a pendulum, Makerere showed remarkable composure in the final minutes to fend off a late surge from Evergreen.

The win marks a key milestone for the university-based side and a warning shot to the rest of the league, they are no longer here just to participate.

In another gripping men’s match, Police HC and Uzalendo locked horns in a goal-fest thriller with Police edging it 42-39.

The match was defined by quick transitions and relentless attacking play but it was Police’s sharper execution in the final minutes that earned them their second straight win, allowing them to close the day in style.

The biggest statement, however, came from UPDF who dismantled Wanainchi in a dominant 54-19 win.

The army side showed their title intent, combining physicality with swift offensive play to completely overwhelm their opponents in one-sided fashion.

On the women’s side, UPDF Women claimed a hard-fought 31-29 victory over Nkajja in one of the day’s closest contests.

The game showcased high-caliber goalkeeping and sharp shooting from both ends, but UPDF’s edge in experience proved decisive in the dying minutes.

Elsewhere, off-court matters impacted results as Police Women and Kyengeza Bees were handed walkover wins.

Wanainchi Women failed to honor their fixture, awarding Police Women a 10-0 victory while Ndejje University arrived late for their match, leading to Kyengeza Bees being awarded a win under the same scoreline.
