Makerere University coach Douglas Bamwenyana was happy that his side picked up three points in a 2-0 win over Muni University in the University Football League on Thursday, but he was not impressed with their performance.
“I’m happy for the points and win but not happy about the performance. Thought many aspects of our performance were down today. ” Bamwenyana said.
“We were casual in moments like defending even in the striking force. If our opponents had scored some of the chances we had gifted them, it would have been different.

“Our minds were not in the right place. We failed to convert many chances.”
“We don’t have any other objective but to pick three points in every remaining game in the group stages. I believe we can get better.”
Maurice Wansagi and Ivan Ocen scored in both halves as Makerere went to nine points in Group C ahead of Kyambogo, Ndejje, Muni.

Muni Coach Atiku Attributes Defeat to Fatigue and Fans
Muni coach Ronnie Atiku, who also doubles as a former Makerere University player, attributed his side’s defeat to fatigue and the home crowd.
“We lost the game not because we were bad,” Atiku said.

“But the distance, travelling from Arua to Kampala is not easy. By the time you reach Kampala your muscles are already tired. It becomes hard to win a game in Kampala.”
“The second reason why we can’t seem to win in Kampala is the 12th player. These kind of fans are huge and my boys are not fond of playing with these crowds.”
“But they have tried their best. I’m confident I will get maximum points at home.”
