Uganda’s most prestigious high learning institute, Makerere University will be out representing the Pearl Of Africa at the University of Benghazi’s International Futsal Championship.
The Libyan institute extended the invitation to the Kampala side, selecting them among a few esteemed institutions to participate inaugural event.
The Makerere University team, led by Coach Douglas Bamweyana, will compete in the short-format tournament, which will take place at the Suleiman Al-Darrat Complex in Benghazi.
“It’s an honour to have been invited as Makerere University to participate in this futsal university tournament, we are fully aware and prepared for the task ahead”, team captain Emmanuel Ekong said.
Ahead of the Championship, the team had a friendly game against Shukri FC at Old Kampala Futsal Arena on Saturday to polish their skills.
Traveling with a win 6-3 trail game victory, the team having participated in the 2023/24 Futsal Uganda Cup, is set to travel to Libya early next week.
