Maroons FC assistant coach Simon Peter Ojok hailed the team’s 3-1 victory against Arua Hill as a “huge motivation” for their upcoming fixtures in the Uganda Premier League.
Despite conceding an early goal from Mansour Safi, Maroons staged a remarkable comeback at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani.
Patrick Bayiga equalized for the visitors in the 34th minute, captain David Ndihabwe added a second in the 64th minute before Isaac Mpagi sealed the win for the “Prisons side” propelling them to fourth place in the standings with 22 points.
Ojok lauded his players’ fighting spirit and resilience. “It was a good fight, and we managed to win with a big margin,” he enthused.
“I want to thank the boys for a job well done. As Maroons, we also want to thank our fans for making us feel at home. We created so many chances and scored three goals. This is huge motivation for us.”
Arua Hill, battling financial and managerial hurdles this season, remain rooted at the bottom of the table with 5 points.
Assistant coach John Erebu acknowledged the gravity of the situation but expressed optimism for a turnaround.
“We are going to see that we improve,” he declared. “Being in the relegation zone is not our target, and we will fight hard to survive.”
Elsewhere, Mbarara City and Kitara played out a goalless draw at Kakyeka Stadium. The Royals stayed third on 23 points while the Ankole Lions stay ninth on 13 points after 12 games.
