Maroons FC continued their fine form, edging out Mbarara City 1-0 in Luzira to secure their fifth win of the season. This hard-fought victory follows their narrow 1-0 win over Express, a second consecutive triumph for the Prison side.

Prior to this, Maroons had drawn 1-1 against both SC Villa and URA, while succumbing 1-0 to NEC on home turf. Today’s win, however, marks their first home victory of the campaign, a significant milestone for the team.

Fred Amaku proved to be the hero for Maroons, his solitary goal enough to propel them to fourth place in the table with 17 points.

This slender win also puts them nine points clear of 12th-placed Mbarara City, while BUL FC reign supreme at the summit with a commanding 24 points.

Maroons assistant coach Simon Peter Ojik was understandably delighted with his team’s performance: “It was a sweet win for us. Both sides put in a good performance, and our young players stood tall alongside the experienced ones. This is a great foundation to build on for our upcoming matches.”

Meanwhile, in Masindi, Kitara FC snapped their three-game winless streak with a narrow 1-0 victory over NEC to move up to second place on the table, two points clear of 3rd placed Vipers, who have a game in hand.

Jude Ssemugabi‘s solitary strike proved decisive for the Royals, who climb to second place in the table with 19 points, three ahead of fifth-placed NEC.

The Ugandan Premier League will resume its exciting run on Sunday, as 13th placed UPDF will hope to pull away from the relegation battle when they host champions Vipers in Bombo at 3PM.
