On Saturday, the Ssese head coach was involved in a car accident while traveling to a team training session. Two more accidents occurred on Sunday, affecting the Busiro and Bulemeezi teams.
Thankfully, there were no fatalities, but several individuals sustained serious injuries. These incidents serve as a stark reminder of the tragic events of Week 1, when Kyagwe fans lost their lives in an accident.
Despite the distressing circumstances, the football matches proceeded as scheduled, captivating fans with their intensity, with visiting teams struggling.
Ssingo emerged as the lone away winner, overcoming a Kooki County lead to secure a 2-1 victory. Kooki took the lead through a Paul Kiradda own goal but Ssingo drew level through a Calvin Peter Emayo goal.
Heading into a break 1-1, Man of The Match, Shaban Kayongo scored his second of the tournament which secured a win for Ssingo.
Buwekula and Buvuma extended their unbeaten runs with a third straight draw each, while defending champions Bulemeezi claimed their first win by defeating Butambala 2-0. Forward Cheng scored the opener in first half and Midfielder George Masembe extended the lead in the middle of second half.
Bugerere’s 1-0 victory over Buddu at Ntenjeru on Sunday propelled them to second place in the Bulange group, behind leaders Bululi.
Other groups
Record champions Gomba’s woes continued as they suffered their third consecutive defeat, solidifying their position at the bottom of the Muganzirwazza group. Ssingo currently leads the group with 7 points.
In the Masengere group, Kabula edged out Busiro 1-0, and Mawokota triumphed over Ssese. Busujju maintains the top spot with seven points.
Remarkably, Buvuma remains the only team yet to score a goal despite playing three matches.
The Masaza Cup drama continues on Monday with the highly anticipated clash between Ssingo and Kyaggwe.
