The 2025 Masaza Cup continues to be a hotbed of managerial drama, with two more teams, Kyadondo and Mawokota, making headline-grabbing technical bench changes. The latest coaching shake-up adds to a season defined by high pressure and high turnover.

Kyadondo’s coach, Medi Nyanzi, resigned, citing a lack of support and the club’s failure to fulfill player contracts. The team’s poor form, with three losses and three draws, reflects the internal turmoil.

On the other hand, Mawokota FC has terminated its relationship with coach David Mutono and his backroom staff. Their departure follows a four-game winless streak, highlighting the club’s urgency to reverse its fortunes in the Buganda Masaza Cup.

These recent developments are part of a larger trend. The season’s third week saw a major shake-up with Gomba, Buluuli, and Ssingo all changing their coaches. Gomba replaced Simon Dungu with Nasibu Mukasa, while Ssingo brought in Bastu Ssemuyaba to work with Hussein Mbalangu. Buvuma also made a change in week five, sacking Owen Kato for Isma Ndawula.

Even Butambala, the current group leader, has gone through multiple coaching changes. The rumors linking Butambala’s current coach, Paul Kiwanuka, to Mawokota suggest the coaching carousel isn’t over yet. The pressure for results in the Masaza Cup is clearly at an all-time high.
