Masaza Cup: Busiro kick-start title defence with Kirya appointment

Busiro Ssaza have got their Masaza Cup preparations high up in gear with the appointment of the versed Ibrahim Kirya as their Head Coach.

This is in a bid to defend their title having beaten Buddu in the previous edition 2-1 in the final at Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium.

The appointment was confirmed by the chairperson Joseph Ddamulira Kawuma along with the CEO Paul Kayanja.

“I am humbled by the appointment. Together with my team, we are ready to deliver and defend the trophy which was won last season,” Kirya noted.

Kirya who deputizes Jackson Magera at SC Villa will work with Godfrey Wasswa, Michael Kabali, and goalkeeping coach Hussein Saddam at Busiro.

Wasswa serves as the assistant coach at Maroons FC with Muhammad Ssenfuma the head. The former is a four-time Masaza Cup winner as a player and coach.

Kabali is the Head Coach at Rays of Grace Academy and served a similar role at Mawogola Ssaza last season.

“We shall soon start with training sessions and I urge stakeholders, and fans to come and join to support the team at all times,” Chairman Kawuma appealed.

Busiro will host their home matches for the 2023/24 season at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso. It serves as the home for Uganda Premier League side, Wakiso Giants FC.
