Buganda Masaza Cup Final to be Held at Nakivubo Stadium

The 2025 Buganda Masaza Cup final will take place at Nakivubo Stadium, also known as Hamz Stadium, on November 1st, 2025. This confirmation comes from Buganda Minister for Youth, Sports and Arts, Robert Sserwanga, during a recent press briefing.

Why the Change from Namboole?

The decision to move the final from its traditional venue, Namboole Stadium, was made due to ongoing renovations at the larger stadium. As Minister Sserwanga explained, the dates for the final clash with Namboole’s renovation schedule, making Nakivubo the ideal alternative.

Nakivubo’s History with the Masaza Cup

This isn’t the first time the Masaza Cup has been held at Nakivubo. The stadium previously hosted the final where Mawokoto defeated Ssingo to claim their third and most recent trophy. In a twist of fate, these two teams will face each other again in the upcoming quarterfinals.

A Look at Recent Masaza Cup History

Over the past 12 years, the Masaza Cup has seen three teams win their first title. The trophy has been shared by five different teams, with Buddu emerging as the most successful team during this period. Interestingly, Buddu, the most dominant team, failed to advance from the group stage for the first time since 2013, coincidentally in the same year the final returns to Nakivubo.

Since 2013, the Masaza Cup final has been hosted at three different stadiums: Wankulukuku, Namboole, and St. Mary’s Stadium. With the 2025 final, Nakivubo will once again be added to this list of esteemed venues.
