Masaza Cup: Gomba Secures Crucial Win Over Busujju

Gomba put on a dominant display to defeat Busujju, thanks to first-half goals from Simon Okwi and Robert Ssewanyana. The match, which was played at Kabulasoke PTC on August 27, saw Gomba secure a vital three points in the Buganda Masaza Cup.

The victory takes Gomba’s total to nine points, positioning them in fourth place in the competitive Bulange group. This win also means that the defending champions, Buddu, drop to fifth place.

Despite the win, the record champions have only one game remaining and still have work to do if they are to advance past the group stage.

The goal was Robert Ssewanyana’s fourth of the season, placing him among the top scorers, though he trails behind leaders like Jimmy Kalema, Lauben Lubwama, and Henry Wamala.

The game was played earlier because Kabulasoke PTC will be hosting religious ceremonies from August 28th to 31st, other teams in the Masaza Cup will resume their fixtures over the upcoming weekend of August 30th and 31st.
