2025 Masaza Cup

  • Ssese 1-1 Kyaggwe (Agg 1-3)

The team of Ssaza Kyaggwe advanced to the Semifinals of the 2024 Buganda Masaza Cup with a 3-1 aggregate after a 1-1 draw with Ssese in a match played at Lutoboka Ssaza grounds.

David Mugalu equalized in the 60th minute to cancel out Ssese’s goal scored by Muhammad Sabit in the 39th minute, just before the half-time break.

In the first leg match, Kyaggwe won 2-0, with goals scored by David Mugalu and James Innocent Matege. With the help of the first leg result, the 1-1 draw was enough for Bakunja to advance to the Semifinals, awaiting Buweekula or Busujju.

Meanwhile, the two awaited teams are set for their return leg clash at Mubende NTC on Sunday, October 5th.

In the first match, Buweekula visited Busujju and defeated them 1-0 with a goal from Shafiq Ssonko at Kakindu Stadium in Maanyi.

All three teams are expected to meet this season in the quest to win their first trophy, with Buweekula still the closest to winning, having lost in the final three times.

Kyaggwe, meanwhile, is trying to win the Masaza Cup after losing in the final last year. Buddu, who beat them, has already been eliminated from this year’s tournament.

As Kyaggwe hunts for their first trophy, their coach, Simon Peter Mugerwa, is seeking his third, having lifted it with Bulemeezi in 2019 and Busiro while winning their only trophy in 2022.
