Masaza Cup: Last season’s top scorer Ssewanyana finally arrives as Baale continues to shine

Last season’s Masaza Cup top scorer, Robert Ssewanyana, scored his first goal of the campaign, while Denis Travor Baale has continued to shine for Busiro.

In a 1-1 draw played at Ssentema Ssaza Ground on July 27 between Busiro and Gomba, the record champions, Ssewanyana scored after games in the Gomba Lions jersey. At the same number of games, Last season Ssewanyana had five goals in five games.

The goal secured a second point for the record champions; it was an equalizer to level Busiro, who scored first through Khasim Kabogi.

Meanwhile, playmaker Travor Baale continued to light up the game by tormenting Gomba Lions. Baale has been involved in all four goals scored for Busiro, despite being yet to score himself.

With the result, both Busiro and Gomba didn’t move from the bottom of the table, sitting fifth and sixth with 5 and 2 points, respectively, after five games of the Bulange group.

In the same group, Buluuli humbled Buddu 1-0. Kosea Kagga scored the only goal of the game played at Migyera St. Lawrence.

After the first round, Ssese leads the group with 9 points in five games. Buluuli went second with 8 points, bettering Busujju and Buddu only on goal difference.

In Masengere group, Mawokota dropped more points as they were held by Kyadondo after a 0-0 draw played at Buwama playground in Mpigi.

In the same group, Bugerere, also were held by Bulemeezi 0-0 at Ntenjeru Ssaza football ground.

The group is led by Buweekula with 10 points, Mawokota has 8 points, Bugerere has 7, Kyadondo has 5, Bulemeezi 5, and Buvuma is at the bottom of the group.

In Muganzirwazza Group, Kyaggwe forced Kabula to their first defeat with a 1-0 win, thanks to Marvin Busuulwa for the goal. Kabula has had 4 draws in four games.

In the same group, Ssingo drew 0-0 against Mawogola, after the first five games, Ssingo is joining Kyaggwe and Bugerere as the only remaining unbeaten teams in the campaign this season.

Kooki also played to a 1-1 draw with Butambala. Peter Matovu scored for Kooki, while Daniel Bakaki scored for Butambala.

The group is led by Kyaggwe with 11 points, Ssingo is second with 7 points, with Kooki, Mawogola, Kabula, and Butambala are just following.

The Buganda Masaza Cup will resume next month, restarting with rematches of the group stage.
