Top sports investor Lawrence Mulindwa is keeping a blank cheque for Mawokota Ssaza ahead of the 2025 Masaza Cup.
Mulindwa recently returned to the Masaza Cup with Mawokota after years of keeping aside from direct involvement in the tournament.
While giving his remarks at Mawokota’s fundraising dinner organized by team management, the appointed team patron said;
“I am here to bring back our glory. Mawokota were the record champions before Buddu but these 12 years with out a trophy has cost us a lot, we need to win this year, I thank all of those who contributed today but I myself I can’t announced my contribution because if I do the announcement it will be dishonest, we don’t even know how much is needed but I will fill anywhere the team goes short”
“I can’t lead Mawokota in this attempt and we fail to win the trophy. We are building Mawokota to make Banamawokota proud of being just as Banabuddu.”

At the fundraising event held on Friday, 13 June, over 30 million shillings was collected from attendees at the dinner, with Mawokota North Member of Parliament, also a musician, Hillary Kiyaga (Dr Hilderman), at the centre of the money collection at the event.
The event attracted Mawokota dignitaries of different categories, including Members of Parliament, School directors and high-profile traders led by the County Chief of Mawokota, Sarah Nannono
Teddy Nambooze, the woman member of Parliament for Mpigi District, argued Banamawokota to endure all the tests to come on the way. “I call up fans to stay focused amidst the result on a bad day, we have to support our team from the beginning to the end of the season, our mission is to win the Masaza Cup and with Dr Mulindwa, the mission shall be accomplished.”

Mawokota are three-time Masaza Cup champions, having won the competition in 2005, 2007 and 2013 and the titles came mainly through the efforts of Dr Mulindwa.
This year, Mawokota is in Masengere Group along with Kyadondo, Buwekula, Buvuma, Busiro and Bugereee and they will start their campaign against Buwekula on June 29.
