The Masaza Cup, often referred to as the ‘lion brand’ of Ugandan football, is continuing to invest in its growth and development. Despite attracting several sponsors, the competition is keen on expanding its reach and impact.

In preparation for the highly anticipated return legs, the Masaza Cup organizing committee convened a media officers workshop on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Bulange. The aim was to elevate the quality of reporting surrounding the tournament.

Ahmed Hussein, FUFA Communication Manager, and Faridah Bongole, Masaza Cup Organizing Committee Media Officer, led the morning session, providing insights into effective information dissemination.

“We expect to see a significant improvement in reporting quality after this workshop,” said Hussein. “We’ve shared valuable knowledge to enhance information flow.”

The afternoon session featured CAF media intern Julius Mutebi Bazeketta, who focused on photography, and Buganda Sports Officer Hanington Musoke.

Masaza Cup Organizing Committee Chairperson emphasized the importance of strong communication in building the tournament’s brand. “We believe that effective communication is key to growing the Masaza Cup,” he said. “This workshop is a step towards achieving that goal.”

With the return legs of the competition set to kick off on Saturday, August 10, the workshop comes at a crucial time. By investing in media training, the organizers aim to elevate the Masaza Cup’s profile and attract more sponsors and fans.
