Mawokota, Buwekula lock horns in first outing

The Buganda Masaza Cup commence through matchday one as Mawokota hosting Buwekula both possible winners of the 21st edition.

The game is to take plaace on Sunday at Buwama playground as both sides seeking for a positive start of the compaign.

Going into the game, Mawokota was stopped by Buwekula in Quarterfinals last season while Buwekula also couldn’t escape the next round as they knocked the had rock of Kyaggwe in Semifinals.

Mawokota is a three champion of Masaza while opponent Buweekula has just lost two finals.

Mawokota under David Katono Mutono the same man who took of Kyaggwe to eliminate Buwekula under Felix Ssekabuza stewardship last season.

This season Mutono crossed to Mawokota but Ssekabuza is still rolling the wheel of Buwekula but lost his best player last season in Amour Munogera to Mawokota.

Buwekula further lost other key players like Edirisa Masembe, Ronnie Ziraba who moved in different directions from Munogera as Masembe ending up to Gomba and Ziraba to Kyaggwe despite the uncertainties in the move.

Despite losing some players and to notice is Michael Abura plus others, Mawokota seems to be an upgraded side having captured the likes Sazili Nkonge from Kyaddondo, South Sudan forward Mamur Irivai who teared nets last season at Kabula.

On top Mawokota remarked the return of Dr Lawrence Mulindwa a serial winner, a great motivator of the players and coaches, a win at first shall take a vital role in their campaign.

Mawokota extends strength in experienced team Manager Haroon Kyobe who seems to be much tested than any other team manager in the competition this term.

Buweekula on other hand Maintained the coaching led by coach Felix Ssekabuuza, no big changes in team management basing a ground of continuation of the proces.

On the playing staff Buwekula captured last season gold medalist Mike Kayongo Micheal from Buddu, added on Ashraf Kigozi and goalkeeper Sulaiman Ssali from Mawokota as the key figures in shifting the squad from last season third place to the top of the tournament.

Besides the biggest clash of the day, other four fixtures shall take actions at different pitches

Kyaggwe vs Kooki at Mukono Bishops

Under Simon Peter Mugerwa’s Kyaggwe will begin their campaign to search for the first Masaza cup title against Kkooki at Bishops SS Mukono.

Mugerwa is a two time Masaza Cup winner, moved in with some players from Ssingo and Kyaggwe last few players from last season finalists.

Bugerere will take on Buvuma as the Island men walking to Ntenjeru, a ground which is placed among the most intimidating grounds in the competition.

Meanwhile Mawogola, under Asaph Mwebaze, will take a high hit fixtures against Butambala in Mawogola as Mwebaze bigins life in Masaza Cup.

Busujju will host Busiro in a fixture which is much dominated by the visitors and they seem having a better squad this season
