Mawokota head coach David Mutono is highly anticipating a tough challenge against Kyadondo at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo this Saturday, August 9.
Despite facing uncertainty over the availability of four key players, Mutono remains confident in his squad’s ability to compete.
“We are going to Kyadondo tomorrow despite having a few injuries; like four are out, but the rest are okay,” Mutono stated. “It’s gonna be a battle for us, we know, and we are ready for the second round. We need to get out of the group, since it is tight, we need to deal with it as early as possible.”
The three-time champions will likely be without the services of their captain, Amour Munogera, top scorer George Isingoma, Siraje Etuta, and Vincent Ayebale, all sidelined with injuries. This match is crucial for Mawokota as they aim to solidify their position in the Masengere group standings.
In a bid to bolster their squad, Mawokota utilized the mid-season transfer window to acquire three new players: Bruno Mukwaya, Mike Kintu, and Alex Lutwama. The team hopes these new additions will provide a new dimension and give them a competitive edge in the upcoming fixtures.
So far, Mawokota has had a strong run in the Masengere group, with two wins, two draws, and one loss against Bugerere. They currently sit in second place with 8 points from five games, just two points behind leaders Buweekula.
As they travel to Kyadondo for the opening fixture of the second round, Mawokota faces a challenging schedule with more away games than home games. This game is a vital step in their quest for a fourth championship title.
