- Warriors 132/9 in 20 Overs (Steven Wabwose 32, Ronald Lutaaya 25; Abdul Aziz Tandia 3/21)
- Gladiators 84/10 in 13.4 Overs (Brian Asaba 18, Musa Majid Ramathan 15; Jackson Asiku 5/12)
Warriors won by 48 runs
Jackson Asiku was in complete command as Warriors handed Gladiators their second defeat of the Batball MAXX Challenge Cup with a dominant display at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe on Saturday.
The off-spinner ran through the Gladiators’ line-up, finishing with superb figures of five for 12 to bowl them out for just 84 in 13.4 overs.
His control and sharp turn left the chase in ruins long before it could gather any momentum.
Earlier, Warriors had done enough with the bat after being sent in.
Ronald Lutaaya gave them early energy with 25 off 17 balls, while Steven Wabwose held things together with a steady 32 from 26 deliveries.
Owili Robert’s unbeaten 20 helped push the total to 132 for nine.
Gladiators kept the score in check through disciplined bowling. Aziz Abdul Tandia claimed three for 21, with Dan Keith Amani and Musa Majid Ramathan picking up two wickets each.
But the chase unraveled once Asiku came on. After a couple of early strikes from Harsh Panchal and Abdul Basit Habib, Asiku took over, ripping through the middle order.
He removed Omara Ronald, Dan Keith Amani, Paul Mulongo and Edwin Nuwagaba in quick succession to leave Gladiators reeling at 31 for six.
Brian Asaba fought briefly with 18, while Kizza Jonathan and Ramathan added 14 and 15, but the target was always out of reach.
Asiku fittingly claimed the final wicket to complete a crushing win and underline Warriors’ growing authority in the tournament.
Earlier in the day, Blasters strengthened their hold on the top of the table with a 34-run win over Titans in a reduced-overs match.
Action continues on Sunday, December 14, with Royals facing Strikers at 10:00am before Warriors take on table leaders Blasters at 2:00pm in a mouth-watering clash.
