Blasters won by 46 runs
Charles Musemeza stole the show on a chilly afternoon at the Lakeside Oval in Entebbe, crafting a composed half century that propelled Blasters to a commanding 46 run win over Royals on Day 11 of the Batball MAXX T20 Challenge Cup.
After Blasters captain Kenneth Waiswa won the toss and elected to bat, Musemeza anchored the innings with poise, scoring 66 off 59 balls, including six boundaries and a six.
His effort helped Blasters post a competitive 144 for eight in 20 overs. Early support came from Simon Ssesazi, who made a brisk 26 as the pair added 71 for the first wicket.
When Ssesazi fell in the eighth over, Royals tightened the screws through Perry Wazombe’s five-wicket haul, but Musemeza kept the innings on track, rotating the strike and punishing loose deliveries before falling late.
Royals struggled in response. Anas Baig fell for a duck, and despite resistance from Cyrus Kakuru (18) and skipper Calvin Watuwa (29), Blasters’ bowlers, led by Musinguzi Mathew and Emmanuel Laloyo, kept the chase under control.
Opio Tonny and Ethan Ahabwe wrapped up the innings, sharing four wickets as Royals were dismissed for 98. The 46-run margin highlighted Blasters’ composure and control.
The win keeps Blasters atop the standings with 14 points from seven wins and a single defeat. Royals remain fifth with two wins from eight games, continuing their difficult campaign.
Elsewhere, rain shortened the morning fixture, but Gladiators still edged Titans in a thrilling Super Over.
