Mayiga rallies Masses for Kabaka Birthday Run

While launching the routes for the 13th Kabaka’s Birthday Run, Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga urged people to participate in the annual race and cited adherence to the themes mentioned as one of the main reasons for the race’s growth.

The launch, held at the Muteesa 1 Royal University Mengo Branch, where Katikkiro stated as follows: “People love the Kabaka immensely, but you can say that loving him passionately is not enough but also the kingdom to be doing things that benefit the people of Buganda is important.”

The Kabaka’s birthday run is also very popular because since 2014, the kingdom has been giving it themes and protecting them. Our first was focused on a fight against fistula, we switched to sickle cells, and now we are focused on AIDS and it is a fourth time because Kabaka is the major on the focuse to erese Aids infection by 2030″

Since the start of the Kabaka’s Birthday Run, it has been observed that every year it is attracting more and more people from different parts of the world, and now it is being participated in even by people from outside Buganda as well as abroad, based on their regions of residence.

This year’s Kabaka’s Birthday Run is scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 12, and the main runners will run in races of 5, 10, and 21 kilometers according to the map presented by Buganda Minister of Youth, Sports, and Arts Robert Sserwanga to the Katikkiro who launched it.

The races will start at the Royal Palace in Mengo and then run along Kabaka Anjagala, Balintuma, Hoima Road, Bombo Road, Sir Apolo, Kira Road, John Babiha, and other roads before returning to end at Mengo Palace.
