URA FC are set to turn a new page, with Hussein Mbalangu poised to be unveiled as the club’s new head coach on a two year deal, replacing Alex Isabirye Musongola.
The move reflects the Tax Collectors’ desire to steady their season and restore momentum after a slow start to the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League campaign.
As earlier called by Richard Ssekyanzi, a reknown UPL journalist reported that the CAF A–licensed coach has already signed, returning to the dugout just months after leaving NEC FC.
His appointment ends weeks of speculation that had linked several coaches to the vacancy, including Hassan Zungu, Morley Byekwaso and Sam Ssimbwawere.
Mbalangu is expected to bring along a familiar backroom team. Bastu Ssemuyamba, formerly of Kaaro Karungi, will serve as his assistant, with Richard Kansole and Muwadda Byuma handling goalkeeping duties.
Interim head coach Edward Golola will step aside as URA reorganise their technical setup.
The new coach will have little time to settle. His first assignment will be the Mapinduzi Cup, with URA FC travelling on Saturday, January 4.
The tournament will give Mbalangu an early chance to assess his squad and begin shaping the team in his image.
With the official announcement imminent, attention now shifts to how quickly URA FC can respond under their new leadership.
