National champions Mbogo High Warriors began the 2024 season with a dominant 4-1 victory over Luwero based Ndejje University. This win came despite missing their star captain, Tracy Naluwooza, who has been competing internationally with the National Badminton team since the beginning of the year.

Naluwooza, who recently participated in the All Africa Games, Olympic Qualification tournaments, and the Thomas & Uber Cup in China, is expected to return this weekend for a critical stretch of matches at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium.

These upcoming games have been dubbed “Mbogo High Warriors’ Ties of Death” due to the high stakes involved.

Mbogo High Warriors Face Stiff Competition

While Mbogo boasts a talented roster with players like Akbal Oduka, Arafat Tendo, Bukenya Ramiah, Kyuuka Trisha, Sempiri Swaburuh, Nakiyemba Nazifah and Naluwooza, they face a significant challenge this weekend.

Currently sitting second in the standings with 2 points, they’ll go head-to-head with Victoria University, a team trailing closely behind them with the same point total.

Victoria University will be led by national team player Owinyi Augustus. They’ve also bolstered their lineup with new acquisitions Kamoga Akram and Kyomukama Oliva, who switched allegiance from State House Badminton Club.

Mbogo’s busy weekend schedule includes matches against Kinawa High School, Mawanda road based CFK Patriots, and newcomers Sharing Badminton Club.

Head coach William Kabindi acknowledges the difficulty of these upcoming fixtures, citing the influx of talented players across competing teams. However, he emphasizes his team’s preparedness and warns opponents to expect a tougher challenge with Naluwooza’s return.
