On Tuesday, May 27, last season’s Masaza Cup finalist, Kyaggwe, unveiled experienced coach Simon Peter Mugerwa as the coach to guide them through the 2025 tournament.
At the unveiling event held at Kuggwe Ssaza office in Mukono, Mugerwa was announced to work with Robert Ssekweyama, Bright Nyanzi as his assistants and John Billy Lukoda as goalkeeping coach.
The technical team also has an extension with Leo Ssekamatte joining as trainer, James Chamali as fitness coach, while Joseph Ssentume and Fredrick Mukiibi stand in as performance analyst and welfare.
After the announcement, Mugerwa advised the entire Kyaggwe fraternity to work hand in hand if they are to win the Masaza Cup this year.
“We are starting the journey with the aim to win, yes we will win but we have to work together, it is not my job alone because I am not a star, everyone from the county chief, the administrators, the players us the coaches and funs we all have respective roles, this is a corrective responsibility.”
In my life, I move on three units which I believe we must uphold, I summarised them in my name as in Mental toughness, Passion and Selflessness.”
Mugerwa brings a rich experience in Masaza Cup, having won the tournament win Bulemeezi in 2019 before guiding Busiro to their first trophy in 2022.
Except Bulemeezi and Busiro, Mugerwa also coached big counties like Buddu and Ssingo where he served last year and stopped in the Quarterfinals.
At Kyaggwe, Mugerwa is replacing Steven Mutono Katono who guided the county to its first-ever final, where they lost to Buddu at Namboole.
