In the Kampala Region road to USSSA Boys football Nationals, Mengo SS aims to lead the group with an unbeaten record as they take on Kawempe Muslim SS in a do-or-die group B final game on Saturday, April 11 morning.
On the advantage, Kawempe Muslim fell to Kakangulu Memorial, Mengo SS is at an upper hand, having recorded two wins and a draw out of three games.
On Friday, April 10 in the morning, Mengo SS fought from a goal down to beat Luzira SS 2-1 with probably their best player Ibrahim Mubiru scoring in the 24th minute, cancelling Jesse Wetale’s goal that came a minute before.
The win came as their second, having won their first game 3-0 over Kololo High School, and in their third game, they drew 1-1 with Kakungulu Memorial on Friday evening.
In the group, Kawempe Muslim and Kakungulu Memorial are also in position to reach quarterfinals, and any loss either to Kawempe Muslim or Mengo SS may turn things to misfortune as the loser may be forced out of the race.
Kawempe Muslim has 6 points, having defeated Kololo High School 2-0 and Luzira SS 4-0 on the opening day. Kakungulu Memorial School is also in contention and better placed than Kawempe Muslim.
Unlike Kawempe Muslim, Kakungulu Memorial seems to have an easier task as they have to take on Kololo High School at Mengo SS ground. In their first three games, they defeated Luzira SS 1-0, Kawempe Muslim 1-0, and drew 1-1 with Mengo SS.
As of day two conclusion, Mengo SS leads the group on goal difference, being levelled on 7 points with Kakungulu Memorial while Kawempe Muslim SS is third with 6 points after each of the team played three games with one game to go
